Video is a great way of  building trust with an audience. However,  people often feel nervous or unsure about being on camera.

So in this video, we’ll look at  5 ways to feel comfortable and relaxed  when being filmed.

Hi I’m Adrian from SOZU Media, and behind the camera is Simon from SOZU Media. Telling someone to relax, doesn’t often work, but here are 5 tips that will help you to relax and feel comfortable when being filmed.

Tip 1 is to have the right mindset. You’ve gotta remember that you have the information  that people are wanting to find out about. So, the audience is wanting you to succeed. So just relax and share your information.

You want to film when are mentally at your sharpest. So for example,  if you’re a morning person, arrange for the filming to be done in the morning.

Tip 3 is practise. It’s obvious, but often overlooked.  In Tip 1 I said you  know your topic, so it’s a lot easier to talk about it. which is true, but you have to be careful not to be overconfident. However, you’ve still got to plan and structure what you want to deliver, to get the message across clearly to your audience.

Tip 4 is work with people you feel comfortable to work with. I’ve had this experience myself, where a simple change in personnel can completely change the success of a project.

And Tip 5 is your performance delivery. You need to think about things such as smiling. But not crazy smiling. Breathing – so you don’t faint.  Not rushing what you say. And finally, you want to come across as genuine. You want to show who you are, to build up trust with your audience.

That’s our 5 Tips on being more comfortable on camera.
